What are Web Services?

The genre definition: A web service is a collection of protocols and standards used for exchanging data between applications. Software applications, written in various programming languages and running on various platforms, can use web services to exchange data over computer networks like the Internet.

Legg Web Services definition: A generalized web service. That is to say, any service provided by us that may involve the Internet. For example, a website development service - including graphic design, a Webmaster service to provide ongoing website support or a consulting service for selecting a suitable Internet hosting service.

What are Websites?

A website is a collection of one or more pages, that reside on the internet, and can be accessed by anyone connected to the World Wide Web (Internet) through an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Websites are located by an address, known as a Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Examples of URL's are www.LeggWebServices.com, www.ELFHomeServices.com, and www.YourDomainName.com.

Are there different types of websites?

Yes. Websites range from small, one page sites ("Home" pages) to very large sites that contain myriads of information. Websites vary in complexity as well. They can be very simple; an example might be a "Hello World" page - A simple page that appears in your browser with "Hello World" and nothing else. Websites can also be very complex. Examples are e-bay and Retail e-commerce websites. There just isn't a limit to how complex a website can be.

Do you host websites?

No. We have a list of preferred hosting ISP's. There are hundreds of ISP's. Each has several mixes of capabilities, features, reliability, packages and costs. A cost effective ISP for a simple website most likely will not be cost effective for a complex website and the reverse usually holds true as well.

Do you do Graphic Design?

Yes. We do fairly straight forward logo designs, business cards, brochures and the like. However, when you need high quality graphic arts, we contact one of our available associates.

Do you make commercial printer/publisher Ready ad's?

Yes. We can convert many content formats into the Adobe PDF format.

What does a website project cost?

How large or small could it be? How complex or simple could it be? Are you interested in website based on time and materials or just a "SWAG" quote? Our rates are reasonable. We have found the best method to provide you a project quote is for us to meet with you and gather your requirements. The next step is for us to prepare a design proposal, including estimated time and material costs. Once these milestones are passed, we can answer this question - together.

Yes. Depending upon your needs and your budget. Check out our Webmaster services.

What are Webmaster services?

Ongoing maintenance. Simply put, as time goes by, a website grows "stale," especially as your business evolves. Our Webmaster service will update your site with fresh content as your business demands. No need to "start over" with a new designer every time your site gets stale. Our Webmaster service fee structure is either a monthly retainer, or an hourly time and materials fee based model.
